about

Hank first recorded this song on 31 August 1950. The Riffing Cowboys version employs five chords (as does Hank's original)—two more than the Hank norm. Confused us all greatly. While Hank had the benefit of three potential solo instruments (fiddle, steel guitar, or electric guitar), The Riffing Cowboys pretty much had but one. This song illustrates a technique that Warner Hodges uses on a few occasions on Hank 'n' Roll to add variety to his solos, switching from slide guitar to lead guitar in mid solo.

Dan Baird: Vocal

Philip Shaw Bova: Drums

Phillip Victor Bova: Bass

Warner Hodges: Lead, slide, and rhythm guitars

Graham Young: Rhythm guitar

about

The Riffing Cowboys Ottawa, Ontario

The world's first rock 'n' roll tribute to Hank Williams--a foot-tapping, and at times fist-pumping, assemblage of basement-bred rock ‘n’ roll that presents some stellar Hank songs in high gear.
